A little bit about my thinking..
by Chris on May.26, 2010, under Uncategorized
Growing up, my mother always had games we’d play when there was nothing else to do. We’d guess the color or shape one another was thinking about. I’d try and flip playing cards, guessing what face would be on the other side. It was a lot of fun, and inspired my elementary school science fair project on psychic skills and parapsychology.
As a Catholic school student, it was met with mixed reviews. I didn’t give up. I knew there was more to life (and death) than we were taught in school. Once when I was about 10 years old, I remember being in my bed, terrified to move because I saw a woman at the end of the hallway that was glowing. It didn’t help matters that I could see through her. I later found that this woman happened to look like my deceased aunt that I had never really met. I wouldn’t have known what she looked like but recognized her picture. Seeing strange lights when it was dark was common for me as well. This happened on a daily basis for years.
This led to a lot of questions. I was always questioning things, especially in science class. This continued through high school, where even though my interest was high, I wasn’t very vocal about it. Ridicule is a very powerful motivating factor. I remember once asking, “If energy can neither be created or destroyed, and the human body can scientifically be proven to contain energy within the brain, muscles, and nerves..what happens to that energy when we die?” Even my teacher at the time didn’t have an answer that really fit and admitted that it was a vague assumption but it could be used to support the reality of ghosts or spirits. I realize that the body itself is broken down and decomposes, but if you really look at the human body, there is so much more there. What happens to the energy from our thoughts, dreams, and memories? Destroy part of the brain and memories can still exist. People still have thoughts. If memories aren’t stored physically in the brain and thoughts can be measured through brain activity, what happens to that part of us? It made me think.
Toys playing by themselves

Although there is more coming in regards to my previous post, here’s an update. In the upstairs playroom, there is a kitchen that makes stove and other kitchen sounds when you push the buttons on it. Recently, we’ve been hearing strange sounds from upstairs. Last night I confirmed it. I stood in the kitchen and waited patiently. I heard what sounded like someone playing with the toys upstairs and snuck quietly up the steps. The kitchen set was happily bubbling away, as if someone were turning the knobs.. the knobs never moved. It kept going off again and again, for no apparent reason. I finally said something out loud, and it stopped. it didn’t go off again. I looked at it, took out the sound module, put it back.. everything looked fine. I went back downstairs and damn if it didn’t go ff AGAIN! This time I grabbed the screwdriver and took out the batteries. I’ll take it apart later and look for any short circuits… so far haven’t found a reason for it! What do you think?
It’s been crazy!

Well, I know it’s been a few days and I wanted people to know we’re still here! Our daughter has been waking up terrified of something at night.. several times a night and knowing my own and my wife’s background we’ve been taking her seriously. Will post an update soon after we investigate further. It may be nothing, but I’m reserving judgement until later.
EMFs

I see these gadgets on tv and online all the time advertised as “ghost detectors”. What are they? Do they work?
The tool I’m talking about is also known as an Electromagnetic Field detector. I’ve known that EMF’s can affect many things from WiFi connections, hearing aids, cellular signals…to human and plant cells. I know that some people are very sensitive to them but I really had an experience today at work. I was running cable for an internet connection on campus and happened to pass through the generator room. WOW! I’ve heard the “hummm” of electrical cabinets in the past, but never did I really feel that “pressure” that I did today. You really can tell when the juice is flowing through those things. Your body is a very powerful tool when it comes to investigating the paranormal.
Although things like EMF detectors can help with finding your own proof, remember that not everyone will accept it AS proof. You need to not only open your mind but also open your body and use it as an extension of your mind. Use all of your senses and trust them. I’ve never failed to get a supernatural photo or audio clip when I trust my gut feelings. The biggest non-believer or closed minded person may not believe in things that can’t be seen, but even the staunchest skeptic can be shown the light if they experience things on their own. We don’t need to prove anything to anyone other than ourselves. If a skeptic wants proof, bring them along with you and share in the experience. Make it a rule beforehand, however, that they need to be quiet and let you do your thing or it’s not going to be worth it. Pranks, Jokes, etc. won’t prove or disprove anything, and only increases the chances that someone will get hurt.
FIY..I’ve been working on getting some of our files uploaded so I can post pictures online from several investigations. Keep coming back! Also coming soon are notes and summaries from the investigations themselves!
Happy Mother’s Day

The most important thing parents can teach their children to have is an open mind. Without that, how can anyone see the world around them for what it truly is? I get sick and tired of people telling me flat out that they don’t believe in something because no “proof” exists, but then go on in the same breath to explain that they wouldn’t accept any proof anyway because it’s all fake.
Come ON! It’s possible to be a skeptic and still keep an open mind to possibilities. There is much more to this world than we know. Where’s my proof for that statement? Well, if we already knew everything, why do we have science? Why still study it? Why hire researchers?
Don’t close your mind to the possibility of something simply because you haven’t seen it yourself or out of fear. The unknown can be a beautiful thing, and affects our lives in many mysterious ways.
Keep your minds open, and a whole new world of opportunities will arise. Doors will open that were formerly closed to you, and you’ll see things in a new light. Just remember that simply saying you have an open mind doesn’t mean squat. You shouldn’t HAVE to say anything. As they say, the proof is in the pudding.
Enjoy your mother’s day!
“Gut Feelings”
by Chris on May.08, 2010, under Uncategorized
Have you ever had “one of those feelings” that you just couldn’t ignore? My wife had one of those last night and we called every family member we knew of to make sure everything was okay. It WAS all okay, but the nagging feeling still lingers in the house.
Here’s my own personal theory: It could be a number of things, from the recently deceased from a major car accident near our house.. it could be someone/thing looking for someone to listen…It could also have been that something DID happen to a family member in some distant or parallel place.
Who really knows? I know that she’s rarely wrong about her feelings, and I know that when I was changing our 2 year old’s diaper last night she was frightened and told me, “scary, I said go away!… scary all gone now.” and she smiled at me. Interesting, isn’t it? She’s quite a gifted child. Later today I’ll be posting more and hopefully soon adding some stories for you.
